The elusive link of gensferreria/ferraria/shirleia/farria..... to the Romans.
The elusive link of gensferreria/ferraria/shirleia/farria..... to the Romans.
I began writing my Book “The Collection………..”, an historical survey of this Clan,
courageously, hopefully and faithfully harking back to as far as 10,000-6,000 BC., when the melting of the ice in Europe and the Middle East, allowed migrations of Celts, Goths and Scythians, among others, from their pre-historical location in the Near East.
Take a big jump please to the times after Caius Julius Caesar when members of
gensferreria…….. were spreading through Gaul and Italy.
They already had an appellative ferreri/ferrari, not yet a full surname, but
functioning as such as they were already conscious and proud of their common origins, unlike many who had lost consciousness of their origins during the times of the
displacements resulting from the barbaric invasions and upheavals throughout the
disgregating Roman Empire of the West which ended in ca. 450 AD.
I began writing in 2004 and have now finished it but have been discovering new
material that shall have to be incorporated in an already large work of 1,700 pages.
It is in fact a work of research and this may never cease.
By chance I have discovered this information during the last week, and one of the questions I had not been able to answer had been the expected, postulated link of gensferreria……. with the Romans.
There is in fact such a link and a distinguished one in Ferreolus of Roman Gaul, born in 390 AD. He married Syagria of Roman Gaul, ( born in 390 AD ), daughter of Flavius
Afranius Syagrius of Roman Gaul, Consul ( 381 AD).
His son was Tonantius I Ferreolus, Prefect of Roman Praetorium in Gaul, and one of the Commanders of the left wing, under the Roman Aetius at the battle of Chalon-Sur-Marne ( Catalaunian Fields ) where Attila the Hun was brought to a draw and compelled to retreat. He married Papianille of Rome, daughter of the short-lived Western Roman
Emperor Petronius Maximus IV (455 AD), great-grand-niece on her mother’s side, her mother being Eparchia of Roman Gaul, of Western Roman Emperor Maximus Magnus Clemens ( 383—388 AD), who was married to St. Elen Llwyddog FERCH EUDAF of the Gewissi. Please note how much the Romans had been intermarrying with the local
nobles, a poorly known fact undisclosed/repressed by our latter-days anti-Roman, anti-western propaganda, i.e., (1) The Yiddish Hollywood-influenced one ( a blind and stupid ongoing revenge for the Romans’ severity against religious/ideological terrorists and law-breakers, disguising themselves as patriots or religious zealots ).
( 2 ) The Constantinian version of Christianity of the Roman Apostolic Catholic Church which was understandably compelled then to emphasize the Latin as against the Celtic/Israelitic version in order to overcome the almost universal spread of the Arian heresy among the Barbarians who were within the limits of the Roman Empire.
May Allah crucify the lot!
To-day the time has come for the West and the Roman Church to reform and
further purify its Theology, in accordance to Sumerian/Celtic/Israelitic wisdom. However we must accept the fact that the Roman Catholic Church is a monolithic western structure worth keeping and cherishing and that the west must rebuild……….. in UNITY.
His son was Tonantius II Ferreolus DE NARBONNE, Senator in Narbonne, born in 450, at Narbonne, Aude, Languedoc, France.
He married Industrie’ DE NARBONNE, daughter of Flavius Probus DE NARBONNE and Eulalia of Rome, grand-daughter on her mother’s side ( i.e., Eulalia ), of Western Roman Emperor Avitus Eparchius ( 455-456 AD ).
He gave issue to Ferreolus DE RODEZ , Senator in Narbonne who married very highly into the Merovingian Royal House…………...Dode MEROVING Abbess de St. Pierre-de-Rheims, giving issue to (1) Senator Ansbertus ( Ausbert ) DE MOSELLE PRINCE OF THE Sicambrian Franks and (2 ) Agilulf DE METZ Bishop of Metz ( 591-601).
The former married Princess Blithildes DE COLOGNE.
This line also produced ancient saints: St. Munderic D’ARISITUM Bishop of Arisitum, coadjutor of the Diocese of Langres between 539 and 572 and, through the female line, St. Clodulphe DE METZ, Bishop of Metz ( 657-697 ) and St. Begga DE LANDEN, Abbess of Andenne.
The Line ended in only daughters with Arnold ( Arnoldus ) DE METZ, Bishop of Metz ( 601-611 ): Dode ( Ode , Doda ) DE METZ of Saxony and Idoberga DE METZ fondatrice of Nivelles.
As one can see in this line, the ferreolus key-word which does not exist as such in the Latin dictionary, must obviously be a colloquial diminutive modification of the harsh ferreri appellation, of the members of ‘gensferreria/ferraria………’ more akin to a “War Cry” meaning ‘ that thou mayest go and get murdered……..’ was eventually dropped, although having been considered important enough by the first four characters of the line, showing not all members of this Clan remained conscious of their ancient common origins, perpetuated through their appellation’s roots in the irregular Latin verb fero-tuli-latum-ferre.
When Latin ceased to be generally used and understood ferreri and its vernacular
differentiations were proudly maintained as such.
Sidonius Apollinarius, the great legal, literary and poetic mind of his times, mentions in his writings that many brothers of Tonantius II Ferreolus existed at the times of his visit to one of their properties, and this means that there are many other Lines of Ferreolus, less distinguished than the main one.
“ Non nobis, non-nobis, Domine, sed nominem tuum das gloriam ”.
